Ray Whitaker
Born on the Bastard Outpost of Manhattan (Staten Island), then onto upstate New York, then down the Jersey Shore (don’t ask), Ray Whitaker is what you call a High School Graduate with some college and a pathological aversion to authority. Got into radio in 1989 with all the best hopes and intentions, but soon found out that being told what to say and play by the so-called powers-that-be wasn’t really his bag. More often than not, he exited the stations he was employed at with a well directed two word salutation at the Program Director (the latter of those buddy words being either “you” or “off”).
Finally, after having done the expected nomadic radio thing all over the Northeast with his wife, Laurel (also in the biz but VERY employable), they went back to Martha’s Vineyard where they originally met at WMVY in 1993 to raise their now college-age daughter, Tess.
Ray’s very unique program airs Sunday mornings on Pootwaddle at 7:30 a.m. PST aka 10:30 a.m. EST. When he’s not pontificating and presenting tasteful rock tunes on his show, “Just Four Guys” (very loosely based on the Beatles), he neuters pets door to door.
